New DLG platform for food production of the future

New DLG platform for food production of the future

How can we use innovative production systems to supply the world’s growing population with healthy, nutritious, and sustainably produced food? The “Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show” aims to provide answers to this question. Organized by the DLG (German Agricultural Society), the B2B platform will be held in parallel with Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, from November 12 to 18.

Marcus Vagt, DLG Head of Energy, Inhouse Farming, and New Foods, explains the concept behind the new B2B platform.

Mr. Vagt, New DLG platform for food production of the future according to the United Nations forecast, the number of urban dwellers will increase by one billion to 5.2 billion people by 2030…
Around 60 percent of the world’s population will live in a city by then. A large proportion of these are unlikely to have access to regionally produced, fresh food. The megatrend of urbanization poses complex challenges to current agricultural systems. Solutions are therefore needed as to how

Universities and other employers in the US science sector must adopt practices that foster a safe and inclusive community, finds a report1 from the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), which outlines how such institutions can do so. The report calls for systemic change across multiple levels to account for the lengthy history of discrimination against people of colour and members of marginalized communities in the United States.

Susan Fiske, co-chair of the committee behind the report, says that bias and discrimination in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) is structural1 in the United States. This culture, she says, results in policies that reinforce each other and attitudes that perpetuate lifelong disadvantages for certain groups. “The converging data from surveys and experiments and observations tells us that you

Sitting about 9.2 billion light-years away from our planet is the great 3C 297 galaxy — containing a quasar or a supermassive black hole pulling in gas at its centre. Now, this distant galaxy has all the makings of being a part of a cluster that can accommodate hundreds or even thousands of galaxies. And yet, the 3C 297 stands by itself, with no companions to ease the loneliness plaguing space.

But before you begin to sympathise with the 3C 297, you must know that this galaxy’s isolation might very well be self-inflicted.

Not long ago, NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and the International Gemini Observatory spotted this lonely galaxy. And once astronomers got a chance to study it, they found that it was mysteriously all alone –

“Teachers are thrilled that they have reliable data and documentation. Classworks has cut their IEP writing time in half!” states Katrina Jackson, director of special education, Montgomery Public Schools.

Classworks, a Special Education solution endorsed by the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), added new IEP goal writing and progress monitoring features to their award-winning intervention and Special Education platform.

Classworks now facilitates creating, writing, and achieving academic IEP goals for reading and mathematics. Enhancements include:

  • Domain-specific Present Levels of Performance data for each student
  • Suggested standards for IEP Goals based on assessment data
  • Suggested standards and skill-based short-term objectives to support the IEP
  • Skill-based Progress Monitoring to track progress on the exact objectives chosen for the IEP
  • The ability to copy and paste PLAAFP goal and objectives into any IEP tool
