Bard College

The Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking’s (IWT) upcoming conference “Crafting, Composing, Conversing: The Writer’s Voice Reconsidered” will focus on the teaching practices that help students to develop their writerly voices.

This conference will welcome educators of all disciplines to Bard College’s Annandale campus on April 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Speaker Peter Elbow, the author of the bestselling books “Writing without Teachers and Writing with Power” and Emeritus Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will deliver the keynote address.

The conference focuses on IWT writing-based teaching practices rooted in the interplay of written and spoken voices to explore voice as concept, craft, and conversation.

Amazonia Adventist College Signs Agreement with University in India

Amazonia Adventist College (FAAMA) signed a cooperation agreement with Woxsen University (WoU), located in Hyderabad, one of the most prominent cities in technological development in India. The goal of the partnership, signed on February 17, is to boost the internationalization of the institution and expand the opportunities for the academic and professional development of students.

According to Prof. Chahat Mishra, head of International Relations and Strategic Development at WoU, the Indian university has partnerships with 112 educational institutions. This includes its presence in 42 countries, including some in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific, and Africa, as well as the United States and the United Kingdom, focusing especially on technological innovation in various areas.

Maine College of Engineering and Computing launching April 1 – UMaine News

The University of Maine System Board of Trustees on Monday approved an initial engineering framework for the Maine College of Engineering and Computing, leveraging the strengths of the University of Maine’s College of Engineering and the University of Southern Maine’s Department of Engineering for the benefit of students and employers statewide. 

The Maine College of Engineering and Computing, or MCEC, will offer expanded educational opportunities in collaboration with programs across the System and address the need for thousands of new engineering and computing graduates required for Maine’s future economic development. 

The college officially launches April 1 and is a signature initiative of the Harold Alfond Foundation’s historic $240 million investment to revitalize the System, known as UMS TRANSFORMS. 15 St. Edward’s Latino students to get free college due to $2.1M grant

15 St. Edward’s Latino students to get free college due to .1M grant

Fifteen incoming first-generation Hispanic students at St. Edward’s University will have all their college costs covered for the next five years thanks to a $2.1 million grant from the The Hector and Gloria López Foundation.

The grant, which was announced during an event on-campus on Wednesday, will cover tuition, fees and all other expenses, such as housing costs, for 15 students starting in fall 2023 and create “pathways to educational attainment and a pipeline to a successful career.” The selected López Scholars will also have access to mentorship, tutoring, study abroad programs, paid internships, leadership development and other support.

St. Edward’s University president Montserrat Fuentes, who also was a first-generation college student, said the university is the first private institution in Texas to recieve an award from the foundation. Briar Cliff University and Little Priest Tribal College Sign Grant Agreement

Briar Cliff University (BCU) and Little Priest Tribal College (LPTC) have reached a grant agreement, allowing for Pell Grant-eligible students at LTPC to transfer to BCU and receive full tuition aid. Students who are not eligible for the Pell Grant will still receive tuition assistance. All students must meet the criteria of having a 2.0 cumulative GPA and graduate with an associate degree.  

 

“It’s important for Briar Cliff to continue to serve all of Siouxland and present an equal opportunity for students to receive a higher education,” said Dr. Patrick Jacobson-Schulte, President of Briar Cliff University. “Briar Cliff is focused on access and opportunity for everyone.
