The Wabash College tennis team swept Roosevelt University in dual-meet action in Chicago Saturday evening, scoring a 7-0 victory over the host Lakers.
Wabash improved to 9-4 overall with the victory. The Little Giants opened the competition by winning two doubles matches. Alvaro Alonso-Sanchez and Augusto Ghidini combined for a 6-1 victory at number one doubles. Tharakesh Ashokar and Cole Borden scored a 6-2 win at number two doubles. Ethan Koeneman and Cole Shifferly received a forfeit in the third doubles flight.

Denise Taliaferro Baszile has been selected to serve as the next dean of Wayne State University’s College of Education. Following a competitive national search and a deeply consultative process, the Wayne State University Board of Governors approved the appointment, which was announced by Provost Mark Kornbluh. Taliaferro Baszile will begin her new role July 1, 2023.
Taliaferro Baszile comes to Wayne State from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she currently serves as associate dean for diversity and student services in the College of Education, Health, and Society. In her roles at Miami University, she has spearheaded the integration and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the university’s hiring and admissions processes to increase diversity among both faculty and students. In her 21 years at Miami University, Taliaferro Baszile has also held a wide variety of leadership positions, including interim dean of
Thomas More University officially unveiled its second college to be named in under a year — The Robert W. Plaster College of Business.
The naming is in recognition of one of the first major gifts to the largest capital campaign in the University’s history — the Second Century Campaign: It’s time for More. This campaign is the funding mechanism that supports the University’s five-year Strategic Plan: Lighting the Way.
“The support shown to our University from the Robert W. Plaster Foundation has been monumental in the progress made within the College of Business,” said Thomas More University President Joseph L. Chillo. “Together, we act on our shared vision to shape business leaders to understand the complexity of our free-enterprise markets, the importance of sustainability, and the need for ethical business leaders in tomorrow’s economy.”

Harper College students and community members who want to earn four-year degrees have
more choices to do so at the Palatine campus, along with a new opportunity to earn
an MBA, thanks to a partnership with Roosevelt University.
The University Center at Harper College partners with four universities – Roosevelt, DePaul University,
Northern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University – to offer a variety
of bachelor’s degree completion programs.
Starting in the fall, two new bachelor’s degrees will be added – graphic design and
human resources management – along with the MBA program, the center’s first graduate-level
degree offered by Roosevelt University.
The goal is to meet the needs of students as they enter the job market, said Bob Parzy,
associate provost for enrollment services at Harper.
