Denise Taliaferro Baszile has been selected to serve as the next dean of Wayne State University’s College of Education. Following a competitive national search and a deeply consultative process, the Wayne State University Board of Governors approved the appointment, which was announced by Provost Mark Kornbluh. Taliaferro Baszile will begin her new role July 1, 2023.
Taliaferro Baszile comes to Wayne State from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she currently serves as associate dean for diversity and student services in the College of Education, Health, and Society. In her roles at Miami University, she has spearheaded the integration and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the university’s hiring and admissions processes to increase diversity among both faculty and students.
